Preschool Countries: Norway Theme
Apr 21, 2021
Welcome to the Northern hemisphere! There are many interesting facts about life in Norway. Did you know that Norway is where skiing first began or that the Vikings from Norway were the first Europeans to visit North America (over 400 years before Christopher Columbus)? Learn these and many other facts as you enojy language arts, math and other learning activities during our Norway theme week.
Our theme board this week was filled with lots of interesting facts about Norway. Kylie immediately recognized the word fjord because it is in Frozen, which we have seen 1,229,335,045,632,492 times.
X, Y, and Z were our letters of the week. In this wake up, warm up activity, Kylie had to find the words that have an X in them. I will totally be expanding on this game for other letter sounds!

We finished the lower case letter crafts this week !
We added our last three students to the letter sound train. "It was nice meeting you Xander, Yan, and Zachary. Have a safe trip," Kylie said as we cleaned up.
Our math worksheets were really fun this week. There were trolls, skis, and viking hats and ships! I'm so proud of how far Kylie's handwriting has come over the course of this semester. She wrote the 9,7,6,s,n, and o all on her own! #proudmom
I am all about borrowing books from the library, but please do yourself (and your child!) and favor and purchase Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs by Mo Willems. It is just too darn cute and funny to not have in your personal bookshelf.
The gross motor activities for this unit looked super fun, but we were unfortunately not able to do them because our apartment is filled with moving boxes! We are moving from California to Canada in a few weeks! We used our gross motor block time to take a trip to the mall to try on coats, scarves, and snow pants just like little Norwegian children. The kids loved it, but I'm pretty sure the novelty will wear off quickly for these California babes when it is 20 degrees and snowing for the 5th straight day ;)
The final pages of our travel journal are filled!
