Ciao! Our Italy unit is loads of fun! You'll try an Italian suite, learn about various landmarks in Italy and continue our work with phonemic awareness. We focus on practicing the letters S & T, counting 1-40 and practice ordering in our math activities. We'll also do an encouragement elves drop this week again too! Who will your child surprise this week? Our art activity will have your child experience the techniques used painting the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. There's this and much more this week. Enjoy!
Our theme board this week was filled with lots of cards showcasing Italy's amazing architecture. Kylie was not convinced when I told her Italy was shaped like a boot. "No Momma. Italy is not shaped like that," she said and pointed to one of her Daddy's boots.
Our wake up, warm up math activities this week focused on ordering by size. We placed shoes and spoons in order from small to large, and in the picture above we "made" pizza with different size crusts and toppings!
S and T were the letters of the week. In this wake up, warm up activity, we played one of our favorite games "What doesn't belong?"
Our art activity this week was so fun, Kylie asked to do it again the next day! We laid on our backs and painted (well, colored because I forgot we were out of paint) like Michelangelo did at the Sistine Chapel!
Days of the Blackbird was one of the book selections for the Italy unit. The artwork is fantastico!
It is time for the letter sound train! This week, we met Sergio and Teresa.
I went to refill my coffee and I came back to this! I want to yell from the top of a mountain, "I love these letter crafts!!!"
"Christmas tree doesn't start with the letter T," Kylie said when I brought out this worksheet.
I think this is my favorite cooking recipe of the semester! We topped this sweetened ricotta with strawberries after we had spaghetti and meatballs for dinner. Mangia!
